Leslie Gould - Artist’s Biography
Leslie Gould is an award-winning artist who was born and raised in New York City. She studied at the Arts Student’s League and earned her B.A. in fine arts from the City University of New York, where she completed a mentoring program under Sam Gelber, one of CUNY’s most prominent artists. She later studied with Michael Britton in Vancouver and Angela Mueller in Squamish.
Leslie illustrated the award-winning children’s book, A Wilderness Passover (Red Deer College Press, 1994). The book's kudos include winning the prestigious Canadian Children Book Centre’s Best Choice Award.
Leslie's paintings have been exhibited in over two dozen professional shows in the U.S. and Canada, including juried shows in West Vancouver's Ferry Building gallery, and Brooklyn's Bedford Avenue Gallery. Her works have been sold throughout North America. Leslie often works on commission. As a member of the Canadian Portrait Society she painted portraits of people and pets for individual clients and businesses.
Leslie works principally in watercolor and graphite exploring the form and inner psychology of her subjects.

In her current portrait series, "Next Door to Nobility," Leslie has embraced the inner biographies of her neighbors on the North Shore--local heroes whose faces embody the universal trials and triumphs of life.
Leslie has lived in North Vancouver BC for over thirty years.
